I believe unseen talents are brought out in tough times because people are suffering and they will try to do just about anything to get out of it. People come up with really creative ideas in times of need.
William, although he faced huge obstacles was able to save his family from starvation. William came from a poor country in Africa called Malawi, most people there are farmers like his family. But in Malawi the weather isn’t always great for farming so they faced long months of starvation and sickness. William had to drop out of school because his family could no longer afford it, but instead of doing nothing William went to the library and tried to learn what he was missing in school on his own. While he was there he came across a book on physics, this was the book that sparked his interest in windmills. He began trying to build one of his own and he eventually did. This first windmill powered one light, but this wasn’t enough for William so he went bigger. He eventually had energy and water for his whole village. Because it was so amazing his windmill began to draw attention and this lead to great things for William. He was able to speak at TED and know he is in his last year at a major university in the U.S.
Martian Luther King Jr. is an example of a person who rose above his struggles to make amazing things happen. Martian Luther in a horrible time where people were not treated equally. In his time people of color did not have the same right as white people. People of color had to go to different schools, drink out of different water fountains, couldn’t ride at the front of the bus, and many more horrific things. Martian Luther knew this was wrong so he took a stand and tried to change things for the better. Not everyone agreed with his point of view so he faced many struggles in his fight for equality. He did end up making quite a bit of progress and eventually there were equal rights. But sadly this happened after he died so he never got to see what all his work had leaded up to.
Many immigrants who come from poor countries leave their families behind so they can give them a better life. This is an insanely difficult thing to do but they aren’t making enough money in their home country so they come over here where there are more jobs. When they come over here they usually aren’t legal yet so they can’t even do everything they wanted to do so they wait. While they wait their family back at home is also waiting and this could take very long amounts of time, sometimes months but most of the time its years. Sadly sometime this is all for nothing and the immigrants have to return to their home country empty handed. But sometimes it works out and they are reunited with their family.
As you can see from my essay I believe that unseen talents come out in times of need. There are many examples of this all throughout history, and it’s better to be optimistic then negative. And if all these people can do such great things we can too.
